Benito Mussolini
Benito Mussolini (July 29, 1883 - April 28, 1945) was an Italian politician and the leader of the Facist Party. Mussolini became Italian Prime Minister in 1922. Mussolini created and gave himself the supreme military rank of First Marshal of the Empire, this gave him and the King joint control over the entire military of Italy. He reamined in power until replaced in 1943. Mussolini sided with the French and the Germans in the early 1930s, and became one of the main figures of the axis powers. He led the Italians into World War II and was captured by the allies and later rescued in the Gran Sasso Raid mission by the German Special Forces. After the rescue total defeat was looming, Mussolini escaped to Switzerland only later to be captured.
Giovanni Messe
Giovanni Messe (December 10, 1883 - December 19, 1968) was an Italian soldier, as well as a politician and a distinguished Italian Field Marshal. He was commander of the Italian North Africa armies and the Italian Libyan armies. He was a smart minded general and known for unothodox tactics.
Italo Gariboldi
Italo Gariboldi (April 20, 1879 - February 3, 1970) was a senior officer in the Italian royal army. He was put in command of the Abyssina, North Africa and Russian campaigns. During the war Gariboldi rose in the ranks and held various staff regimental, and brigade level commands.
